A lot of behaviour in kids undoubtedly comes hard-wired, but I don't think sex has all that much to do with it. I feel like my energy as a girl was squashed as I was expected to behave. My youngest child, a son, is like me in every way, from looks to personality. As I watch him grow outside the strict confines of girlhood that I had to develop in (because he is a boy, and because I don't believe in those confines) I see so much of who I would have liked to be.
